Electronic Serial Indentification Number (SID) is one of them. SIDs are pre-loaded into a hidden part of mini-USB2 hardware at the time of ordering in the factory. They are permanent and not end-user-changeable. Many of our customers use SIDs for software protection, dongle replacement, licensing, user identification, and other security purposes.

SIDs can be read using standard Windows API calls, such as Microsoft DDK, and via system registry. We can also provide a DriveInfo SDK, which includes a Win32 DLL and VC++ sample codes, for a small fee. with DirveInfo SDK, your software program, whether it is written in Visual C, Visual Basic, Delphi, VBScript, Office macro, Windows batch scripts, PHP, Javascript (so even HTML web page) can access the status and low level information of mini-USB2 Flash Drive including its SID.

Unique Identification Number (UID) is a type of SID arrangement that is guaranteed unique
among all mini-USB2 we produce. Each customer is assigned a range of SIDs (bin range)
